Teens Accidentally Murder A Kangaroo At Zoo Throwing Bricks At Her For A Reaction

This 12 year old female Kangaroo was killed this past weekend at the Fuzhou Zoo in East China’s Fujian Province. According to the veterinarian Chen Xiaoli she died of internal bleeding caused by a ruptured kidney.

The Zoo released photos of the Kangaroo hours before her death that clearly show the damage on her leg and body that was caused by the Zoo visitors throwing bricks at her.

The Vet said: “A staff member spotted bricks being thrown into [the enclosure] and went out to seek out the culprits, but no one owned up to it.

“There were too many visitors around, so we had no way of finding them.”

“[The female kangaroo] appeared to be expressing extreme pain, but we weren’t able to determine where exactly it was hurting. We could only see that it couldn’t stand properly.”

“Visitors usually come after 10.30am. That’s after zookeepers have fed [the kangaroos], so they’re full and resting.”

“But visitors want to see them hop, so when they shout at the animals and they don’t move, they throw rocks at them.”

Jason Baker, Asia Vice President of PETA: “Cruel acts like this are yet another danger that animals in zoos face.

“Visitors also do animals harm by throwing food and garbage into their enclosures, causing them extreme stress.

“Installing CCTV cameras won’t solve the problem – as long as people purchase tickets to the zoo, animals will continue to be at risk.

“PETA asks anyone who cares about animals to avoid all attractions that exploit them. Don’t go to zoos.”
